California Dreaming

Last April I went out to So Cal to work with Hybrid Photography on a Desi wedding.  The wedding took place over two days, on Friday and on Sunday.  That meant that we had Saturday to tool around town.

If I go out to shoot the street, if I come back with at least one good photograph, that's okay.  Some days it's all shit.  Street photography is like wildlife photography - some days, the animals are active and interesting.  Unfortunately, most humans are simply dull on the street, especially now in this era of smartphones.  We're all plugged in and tuned out, making for automatons of vapid faces walking through life.

Can I say it?  Sometimes I think the horrors of modern life, from 9/11 to acid attacks in London, serve a purpose for some people - it wakes them up and they learn to appreciate life.  We need to have the pot stirred now and then since we are too self-absorbed to do it ourselves.  What ever happened to flash mobs?

Anyway, here is Malibu and Los Angeles, April 2016.
